Right after Thanksgiving, 2001,
I departed Seattle on my 1989 Honda Transalp and rode 1,400 miles south to San Diego. I then crossed the Mexican border and
kept going 200 miles until I arrived in San Quintin. I very much desired to keep heading south. Instead, I returned to
Seattle in order to fully prepare for a journey extending the length of the American Continent, from Alaska to Argentina.
